Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Louisiana Arbor Day is always held the third Friday in January to coincide with our tree-planting season.
To celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day, Baton Rouge Green partners with the Burden Museum & Gardens' Arbor Day. The Burden team hosts a festival of activities, tree planting and learning at the Barton Arboretum (inside the Burden complex). In addition to the many horticulture, arboriculture and naturalist experts and vendors interacting with visitors, the BRG team gives away 1,000 FREE native trees to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. The trees are grown by the staff and volunteers at Burden.
