BR Public Tree Inventory

Using iTree, the U.S. For­est Service’s cloud-based, peer-reviewed plat­form, Baton Rouge Green staff is dig­i­tal­ly cat­a­loging pub­lic trees in the city in order to bet­ter quan­ti­fy their envi­ron­men­tal and eco­nom­ic ben­e­fits to our com­mu­ni­ty, as well as assist city offi­cials with main­te­nance and plan­ning. As of July 2023, 70,996 trees have been mea­sured and mapped!

Data from this inven­to­ry can be put to use in innu­mer­able ways and has pro­duced fas­ci­nat­ing results.
