What is the 1000 Tree Challenge?
Baton Rouge Green intends to plant and maintain 1,000 additional trees on critical Baton Rouge roadways by 2032, with your help.
Over the next few years, several dynamic factors will align that provide unique opportunities to improve Baton Rouge roadscapes, our green infrastructure, and our quality of life as a community. With your support Baton Rouge Green will lead this effort.
We are currently securing major gifts toward a special fund set aside for these planting projects. Below you will see a list of the donors who have already provided generous support.
As of March 2024, we have raised approximately $722,000 toward the $1,000,000 needed to meet the 1,000 Tree Challenge. Can you help us meet this challenge?
Projects in various phases of development toward this goal include:
- Replanting of 500 trees on I-10 at the I-12 split – est. 2025-2027
- South Sherwood Forest Boulevard – 43 Trees – COMPLETE
- Bluebonnet Boulevard between Perkins Road and Burbank Drive - 47 Trees – COMPLETE
- I-10 at Siegen Lane - 6 Trees – APRIL 2024
- Coursey Boulevard between Airline Highway and Sherwood Forest Boulevard – 32 Trees - COMPLETE
- Harding Boulevard - 50 Trees - Winter 2024-25
- I-10 at Pecue Lane Interchange – est. 2026
