Living Memorial Planting for John “The Coffee Man” Melancon

White Oak Plant­ed at St. Jean Vian­ney in Mem­o­ry of John Melan­con, Founder of Riv­er Road Coffees

On Jan­u­ary 31, 2019, Baton Rouge Green plant­ed a White Oak (Quer­cus alba) on the grounds of St. Jean Vian­ney Catholic Church in mem­o­ry of John Melan­con, Founder of Riv­er Road Cof­fees, who passed away in Octo­ber 2018.John’s wife Sheila, son Ian, and broth­er Ted, among dozens of friends and fam­i­ly, were all present as Dea­con Brent Dup­lessis held a cer­e­mo­ny and blessed the tree. Three class­es of St. Jean Vian­ney stu­dents also attend­ed and helped bless the tree. The memo­r­i­al plant­i­ng was donat­ed by Bev­er­ly Del­mas and her group Toot­sie & Friends”.Baton Rouge Green was hon­ored to be a part of this beau­ti­ful remem­brance.
