Baton Rouge community groups start project to plant 200 trees across town
The Walls Project and Baton Rouge Green are planting 200 trees across the city and it began today when 23 trees were put in the ground at Capitol Square, a public housing community on North 17th Street. - November 25, 2024News
Do you have a full citrus tree? Here's how to volunteer it to benefit the Baton Rouge food bank
Fresh Louisiana citrus is a common gift of friendship between neighbors and loved ones. Sharing the fruit with others is in Baton Rouge Green's DNA, and the environmental nonprofit is now looking for volunteers for the 11th annual City Citrus pick event to help Louisianans in need.The organization is calling for volunteers to gather fresh citrus to deliver to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank which will distribute the fruit to the 11 parishes they serve. The event will be held 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14. Volunteers will meet at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to get instructions before the event begins. - July 02, 2024News
Join our Agroforestry Apprenticeship Program
Agroforestry apprentices will receive a stipend and spend up to 12 months receiving training, education, and job experience from Baton Roots Community Farm, Baton Rouge Green, and additional partners. Apprentices will be positioned to enter the job market and contribute to critical work in horticulture, arboriculture, and urban agriculture, as well as community-driven programming.
